TEMPO.CO, Bandung - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said the bed occupancy rate (BOR) of isolation rooms for Covid-19 patients throughout the province increased.

“The bed occupancy rate is now at 70 percent from previously reached 80 percent and 77 percent,” said Kamil in an online press conference at Gedung Sate, Bandung, on Monday, Jan. 25.

The former mayor of Bandung explained that the government’s decision to transfer patients who developed mild symptoms to an emergency hospital facility helped reduce the hospital occupancy levels.

“Thanks to new buildings and the policy of transferring patients with mild symptoms to non-hospitals, the hospital's BOR is now at 70 percent,” he added.

The West Java Covid-19 Mitigation Task Force recorded the bed occupancy rate of the isolation room as of January 23 across 308 referral hospitals hit 70.83 percent. Last week the rate was 73.06 percent.

Ridwan Kamil went on to mention that indicators of coronavirus transmission in the province were relatively stable. “The death rate is still low at 1.2 percent,” he said.
