TEMPO.CO, Bandung - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said the provincial government would gradually replace official vehicles with electric cars.
“We are the first province, the first regional government that officially shifts the use of conventional official vehicles to electric ones,” said Kamil on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020.
Kamil received three units of electric-powered cars produced by Hyundai which will be used as official fleets to replace traditional oil-fueled vehicles. Hyundai Motors Indonesia Director Sung Jong Ha handed over the cars at Pakuan State Building, Bandung.
According to the governor, the battery-powered vehicles were claimed to be more efficient, one-fifth of the fuel cost. The price of the car was also cheaper. One unit of Hyundai Ioniq electric car was priced at Rp600 million.
The official motorcycles would also be replaced with electric motorbikes gradually, Kamil added.
Two electric cars received by the West Java government would be used as the operational fleet for the Governor and Deputy Governor, while the other one for the operation of security patrol officers.
