TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Singaporean President Halimah Yacob on Monday has written a letter to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo offering condolences to the Indonesian public in general and for the families of the passengers aboard the Sriwijaya Air flight SJ182 that tragically crashed not long after taking off from Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Sunday, January 10.

In her letter that she shared on her Facebook page today, Halimah stated, “Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those on SJ182, Singapore stands ready to offer any possible assistance.”

Citing Arab News and Saudi Gazette, Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud along with Prince Mohammed bin Salman have also sent their condolences representing the people of Saudi Arabia.

Other world leaders who have also sent their condolences for the flight SJ182 tragedy were King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarik, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

The Boeing 737-500 initially lost contact with air traffic control just four minutes after taking off from Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 14:36 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) for a domestic flight destined for Pontianak.

The Sriwijaya Air Flight SJ182 carried a total of 62 people with 40 adult passengers, seven children, three babies, and 12 crew members.
