Another New Record: Indonesia Logs 9,321 Fresh Covid-19 Cases Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Covid-19 Mitigation Task Force released data on the new daily number of coronavirus infections on Thursday, January 7, 2021, which hit yet another all-time daily high with 9,321 new cases.

The previous record for the highest daily number of confirmed cases was 8,854 reported on January 6, 2021. As of today, Indonesia's positive Covid-19 cases almost reached 800,000, or 797,723 cases to be exact.

Jakarta contributed the biggest number of daily infections with 2,398 cases, followed by West Java with 1,416 cases, Central Java with 998 cases, and East Java with 948 cases.

Other regions reported less than 500 new confirmed cases on January 7, 2021.

The Covid-19 task force also reported that the recovery number on January 7, 2021, increased by 6,924, bringing the total to 659,437. Meanwhile, the country's death toll reached up to 23,520 cases with January 7, 2021, additions of 224 cases.
