TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Thousand Islands, or Kepulauan Seribu, in Jakarta recorded 3,018 tourist visits during the Christmas holiday on December 24-25. On December 24, the islands recorded 1,355 visitors, while on the next day, there were 1,663 tourists.

“Five of them are foreign travelers,” said Kepulauan Seribu tourism and creative economy department head Puji Hastuti on Saturday, December 26.

The tourists arrived at various piers, namely Kaliadem, Tanjung Pasir, Rawasaban, and Marina Ancol. The officers tightly monitor the piers in an effort to contain COVID-19 infection on Thousand Islands.

His side also collaborates with other institutions to strictly supervise the health protocol implementation in tourist destinations.

Several destinations on Kepulauan Seribu set as the locations where tight surveillance is implemented include, Sakura Beach, Taman Arsa Beach, Pasir Berawan Beach, Matahari Beach, and Bintang Beach.

“Through the tight surveillance, the COVID-19 transmission can be contained as the health protocol implementation can be monitored,” Puji said.
