TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry on Wednesday announced that it has secured a Rp1.48 trillion national economic recovery (PEN) incentive for the tourism and commercial aviation sector in 2021.
Up until the last leg of 2020, the ministry has allocated up to Rp443 billion-worth of PEN incentives meant to cover the industry’s non-physical Covid-19 mitigation and physical activities.
“The PEN on tourism is hoped to improve the commercial aviation industry,” said Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi on December 23. “This amount of incentives will be used to ensure the connectivity in the tourism sector.
The minister also said that the ministry itself has secured a budget allocation outside of the PEN incentives of Rp45.1 trillion, which he said 51 percent of them will mostly be used to fund infrastructure development.
The rest is said to be allocated for ocean and air transports and railway transportation.
