TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jepara COVID-19 Mitigation Task Force in Central Java confirmed that Karimunjawa will conditionally welcome tourist visits during the Christmas and New Year 2021 holidays on conditions. Visitors are required to present a negative result of a coronavirus rapid test.

“Based on the results of evaluations and monitoring, Karimunjawa is still disciplined in implementing health protocols and there is no case to date. Every tourist is obliged to carry a COVID-19-free letter,” said the task force spokesman, Muh Ali, in Jepara on Monday, December 21, 2020.

However, he asked the task force officers on duty to stay vigilant and called on the public and tourists to comply with the predetermined health protocols against the coronavirus, namely wearing face masks, washing hands with soap, and maintaining physical distance.

Meanwhile, for other tourist destinations in Jepara regency, he said that his side had never issued any operational permit during the COVID-19 pandemic until now.

Karimunjawa tourist attraction was closed beginning March 17, 2020, due to concerns over the transmission of the COVID-19. After it was confirmed that the health protocols were applied by the public in the region and several simulations, the tourist attraction was opened as of October 16, 2020.
