TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fast Food Indonesia, the sole franchise holder of the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) brand in Indonesia, launched the first Taco Bell outlet in the country.

“It will be opened for public tomorrow on Dec. 18, 2020,” said the company’s regional marketing spokesperson, Ika Diah Rhanny, on Thursday, Dec. 17.

Previously, based on the disclosure of information published on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) page, the fast-food restaurant operator (IDX: FAST) said its next expansion plan was waiting for the performance of the first outlet of the Mexican-inspired chain.

“We are waiting for the growth potential of [this first outlet of] Taco Bell to open more outlets because Taco Bell is a new brand in Indonesia,” as written in the disclosure of information to IDX on Tuesday, Dec. 15.

The first outlet was located in Senopati of South Jakarta, which was known as the hip neighborhood for the youth. The Mexican-inspired fast-food chain was expected to enliven the fast food industry in the country amid the pandemic.

To date, based on its official page, Taco Bell has thousands of outlets across many countries, including Thailand, the Philippines, Brazil, Japan, Korea, India, the Netherlands, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
