TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Employment Agency (BKD) announced it would issue a circular requiring regional companies to open offices at 25 percent of the capacity as instructed by Coordinating Minister Luhut Pandjaitan.

“We will issue the circular soon,” said the agency chairman Chaidir on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.

Chaidir added that the 75 percent Work From Home (WFH) policy will take effect beginning December 18, 2020, until January 8, 2021. The circular was drafted following the order of Luhut in a joint meeting on Monday, Dec. 14.

“I also attended yesterday's meeting and received Luhut’s directions. We are following it up by issuing a circular,” said Chaidir.

Since the second phase of the Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB), the Jakarta administration allowed companies to reopen offices at 50 percent of the capacity and 50 percent remote working in accordance with the Regulation of the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry.

Ahead of Christmas and New Year 2021, the central government decided to decrease the office attendance or Work From Office (WFO) capacity to 25 percent in a bid to prevent Covid-19 transmission.

“Because we are worried about a higher risk of virus spread so the WFO capacity is reduced,” Chaidir said, adding that the government prioritized employees who have chronic diseases such as lung disease, heart disease, and diabetes, as well as pregnant workers to keep working from home.
