TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK searched three places for investigative purposes in the case of alleged corruption in the Covid-19 social assistance involving former Minister of Social Affairs Juliari Batubara. The KPK searched the Ministry of Social Affairs office, and the homes of two suspects Matheus Joko Santoso and Adi Wahyono.

The searches were held from Monday, December 7, until early this morning. The KPK confiscated a number of documents that are suspected of being related to this case.

"We found and confiscated documents related to this case," KPK spokesman Ali Fikri said today.

Ali said the document would be analyzed and cross-examined with the witnesses' testimonies.

The case was revealed during KPK's sting operation at the Social Ministry and private businesses that obtained COVID-19 aid projects. The KPK suspects that officials, including Juliari, took bribes from vendors. Juliari has been named a suspect.

The KPK suspects Juliari and two other officials—Matheus and Adi Wahyono—of taking out fees of Rp10,000 per each COVID-19 social assistance packages. The KPK said Batubara is accused of receiving at least Rp17 billion.
