TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial administration recorded 1,466 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, Dec. 7, 2020. The city's head of disease prevention and control, Dwi Oktavia, said the additional cases came from 1,228 new data and the rest were previous data that were recently reported.
“The total addition of positive cases is 1,466 due to the accumulation of 238 data from one state-owned hospital laboratory and one private laboratory in the last seven days that have just been reported,” said Dwi in today’s written statement.
The city's Health Agency conducted today PCR swab tests on 8.217 specimens. Of the number, 6,656 people were tested and resulted in 1,228 positives and 5,428 negatives.
As of date, Jakarta’s total tally hit 145,427 with 11,533 active cases, 31,071 recoveries, and 2,823 deaths. The recovery rate reached 90.1 percent, while the fatality rate was 1.9 percent.
However, the capital city’s positivity rate remained high at 9 percent in the last week. “The cumulative rate is 8.3 percent,” Dwi added. The figure exceeded the World Health Organization (WHO)'s safe standard of below 5 percent.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Jakarta keeps rising. Thus, the city administration decided to extend the Transitional Large-scale Social Social Restrictions (PSBB) until December 21, 2020.
