TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the capital had increased in the past four weeks. As of December 5, Jakarta's confirmed cases of the coronavirus reached 142,630 cases, 13.4 percent higher compared to November 21's 125,822 cases.

Anies said cases started increasing after the long holiday in Octover. "From November 23 to 29, there were 410 family clusters with a total of 4,052 positive cases," he said in a written statement on Sunday, December 6.

According to Anies, the positive cases accounted for 47.1 percent of new cases found by the Jakarta Provincial Government in the same period. From June 4 to November 29, said Anies, the government recorded 5,662 family clusters with 53,163 confirmed.

"In general, we are all seeing an uptrend in active cases and new cases in Jakarta, especially from the family cluster. Therefore, we ask the public to be more vigilant and disciplined regarding health protocols," Anies said.

The Jakarta Provincial Government has extended the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) transition period for 14 days, from December 7 to 21. The decision is set forth in the Jakarta Governor's Decree no.1193/2020.
