Police Close Down 19 Cafes, Restaurants in South Jakarta for Violating PSBB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police shut down 19 restaurants and cafes in South Jakarta early Saturday for violating health protocols during the transitional period of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB).
"They are located in Senopati, Kemang Raya, Tebet, Blok M, Pondok Indah and other areas in South Jakarta," Chief of the South Jakarta Metro Police Senior Commissioner Budi Sartono said here on Sunday.
The crackdown on restaurants and cafes violating the PSBB policy involved a joint team of police officers, military personnel, and local government employees , he said.
During the crackdown, the joint team focused on dispersing crowds and taking action against violators of the health protocols, he said.
He said security agencies patrolled cafes and restaurants to find any form of violation of the decision of the Tourism and Creative Economy's decision on the operating hours of restaurants and cafes during the transitional period of PSBB.
"We closed them because they were still open at 22.30 WIB (West Indonesia Standard Time)," he said.
The joint team also dispersed crowds in several areas in South Jakarta including Kemang, Bulungan, Blok M, and Pondok Indah.
"We appealed to them to return home soon since Jakarta is still in the transitional period of PSBB. Cafes and restaurants in Jakarta are only allowed to operate from 06.00 to 21:00 WIB," he said
"(During the patrol) overnight, we did not take administrative measures since the restaurants and cafes we inspected were closed immediately," he said.
