TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Yogyakarta city administration has formed a patrol team to tighten supervision of the implementation of health protocols in public places. The team will be on duty every holiday, especially during the year-end holidays of Christmas and new year 2021.

Deputy Mayor Heroe Poerwadi explained the patrol team will inspect a number of crowded areas. “They are tasked to supervise so there will be no health protocol violation,” said Heroe, who is also the Covid-19 mitigation task force chairman, on Thursday, December 3, 2020.

The patrol team consists of officers of the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), the Transportation Agency, the Indonesian Police, and the Military or TNI personnel. They will target tourist favorite places and services, such as restaurants, hotels, and cafes located in the north and south of the city.

Head of Yogyakarta Satpol PP, Agus Winarto, said public spaces that are prone to health protocol violations are Gumaton areas, namely the city monument or Tugu Jogja, Malioboro, the city square, and around Keraton or the city palace.

Anyone violating the health protocol will be sanctioned in the form of administrative or fines as stipulated in Mayor Regulation No. 51/2020 on guidelines for the prevention and control of Covid-19 in the new normal era in Yogyakarta.

Heroe also appealed to tourists to use the non-cash payment to minimize direct contact and always have spare face masks and hand sanitizers.
