Papua Reports 1,755 New Cases of Covid-19 as Indonesia Hits New Daily High

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has hit a new record in coronavirus daily cases. The National Covid-19 Task Force reported 8,369 new infections on Thursday, December 3, with Papua being the biggest contributor.

The Health Ministry reported that as of Thursday noon, three provinces recorded more than 1,000 new cases: Papua, West Java, and Jakarta.

Papua saw 1,755 new infections, 102 recoveries, and one death. West Java reported 1,648 confirmed cases, 253 recoveries, and 21 deaths.

Meanwhile, Jakarta logged 1,153 new cases with 973 recoveries and 26 deaths.

Today's daily cases were obtained from testing 62,397 specimens. To date, 557,877 people in Indonesia have been infected with the new coronavirus.
