TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Maritime and Fisheries Ministry (KKP) remains tight-lipped as reports emerge about the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) allegedly arresting the Maritime and Fisheries Minister Edhy Prabowo.

Tempo attempted to get confirmation from the KKP but the ministry’s spokesperson, Agung Tri Prasetyo, early Wednesday morning has yet to reply to our request for confirmation.

The KKP secretary general, Antam Novambar, has yet answered Tempo’s attempt to confirm KPK’s arrest on the Minister. Edhy Prabowo’s special staff, Andreau Pribadi, was unable to be reached as his mobile phone is still inactive.

Meanwhile, Gerindra Party secretary general Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said that the party will not produce an official answer regarding the alleged arrest until further details are confirmed by them.

“The problem is we do not know what the problem is. We will provide a comment as soon as we know what has happened,” said Sufmi Dasco.

According to Tempo’s sources, KPK arrested Edhy Prabowo at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport as the minister completed his United States visit. “[He] was arrested on 01:23 [local time],” said our source on Wednesday.
