Lion Air Expands Business in East Indonesia with Surabaya-Ternate Flight

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost air carrier Lion Air on Monday announced its expansion in the East Indonesia region by introducing the Surabaya-Ternate round trip flight with departures offered from the Juanda International Airport and Ternate’s Sultan Babullah Airport.

“The inaugural flight was marked with flight number JT-894 that departed from Juanda Airport at 08:50 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) which landed at the Sultan Babullah Airport at 13:15 Eastern Indonesia TIme (WIT),” said Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, on Tuesday, November 24.

The return trip was marked by the flight by Lion Air JT-895 that departed from the Sultan Babullah Airport to land at the Juanda Airport. The air carrier announced that it will gradually open new similar flight routes.

Danang said the Surabaya-Ternate round trip opens the chance for Eastern Indonesians to have better accessibility and mobility in the region to continue connective flights across Manado, Tobelo, Galela, Morotai, Buli, and Labuha.
