COVID-19 Update: Jakarta Logs 1,240 Additional Cases on November 20

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the Jakarta Disease Prevention and Control Agency, Dwi Oktavia, explained the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Jakarta had reportedly leapt by 1,240 cases, consisting of 1,011 cases from today’s tests while the rest from samples tested within the last seven days.

“The total positive cases amount to 1,240, caused by 229 accumulated the test results of a private hospital's laboratory reported in the past seven days,” said Oktavia on Friday, November 20.

The city’s health agency reported it had tested 10,352 specimens of PCR swab tests on Friday, which showed 1,011 positives and 7,271 negatives.

These latest results have pushed the capital's positive cases to 124,243 people with 8,003 of them still undergoing hospital treatment and isolations. The total number of deaths have increased to 2,501 people, while total recoveries reach 113,739. The Jakarta government recorded mortality rate was 2 percent and recovery rate hit 91.5 percent.

However, Jakarta’s positivity rate for the past week is still considered high with 8.8 percent, which is higher than the number set by the World Health Organization (WHO) of 5 percent.
