TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission X Chairman, Syaiful Huda, asked the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to prepare alternative tourist destinations such as tourist villages. This is to anticipate a rising number of tourists during school holidays as well as Christmas and New Year holiday.

“I appeal to people to take the closest tourist site, such as a tourist village. I also ask Mas Tama (Minister Wishnutama Kusubandio) to ensure that all tourist attractions are ready,” said Syaiful in Jakarta, November 19, 2020.

He said that the request was conveyed to anticipate the overflow of tourist visits in big sites only that potentially causes large crowds. The PKB politician recalled that during the previous long weekend holiday, there was a significant increase in Covid-19 new cases so that the year-end holiday must be anticipated well.

“The Ministry must ensure the implementation of the health protocol to prevent Covid-19 transmission in tourist sites,” Syaiful underlined.

Syaiful further asserted that the House Commission X shared the same commitment with the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry to establish tourist villages as supporting sites for priority and super-priority tourist destinations.
