TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said the government continued to disseminate the Covid-19 vaccine to the public, hoping that many Indonesian citizens would be willing to get injected.

“There will be a free vaccination program and independent immunization,” said the President while inspecting the simulation of the vaccination in Tanah Serial Public Health Center (Puskesmas) in Bogor today along with Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto and Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto.

The government, he revealed, would distribute a free and paid vaccine that will be carried out simultaneously. However, the price of an independent Covid-19 vaccine will be determined by the Health Minister, Jokowi added.

As reported previously, people who will get the Covid-19 vaccine for free include workers in the public service sector and members of subsidized health insurance or PBI participants of BPJS Kesehatan aged between 15-59 years.

Meanwhile, the independent Covid-19 vaccination program will later be managed through state-owned pharmaceutical giant Bio Farma and its appointed partners.
