Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital Sees Rising Number of Covid-19 Patients

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, reported an increase in the number of patients diagnosed with Covid-19 who were being hospitalized at Tower 6 and Tower 7 by 37. There were 1,569 inpatients as of 8 a.m. Monday, November 16.

The hospital spokesperson Colonel Aris Mudian in a written statement in Jakarta informed that the total number of inpatients stood at 1,569, comprising 798 men and 771 women.

Meanwhile, the number of patients who did not develop symptoms or asymptomatic carriers isolated in Tower 4 and Tower 5 amounted to 859, an increase of 25 people from the previous day.

Tower 6 and tower 7 of the former Athlete Village apartment have been opened since March 23, 2020, to treat patients with mild to moderate symptoms. While Tower 4 and Tower 5 were designated as isolation venues for asymptomatic carriers.

The government tapped the Joint Regional Defense Command (Kogabwilhan) to operate the emergency hospitals, including Wisma Atlet and Galang Island Infectious Disease Hospital in Riau, as well as other similar facilities in Sebaru Island, the Thousand Islands, and Natuna Island.

To date, there were a total of 25,283 Covid-19 patients treated in Tower 6 and Tower 7 of the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital. Of which, 23,260 patients have been recovered and discharged, eight patients died, and 446 patients were referred to other hospitals.
