TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 32 labor confederations and federations were set to hold yet another rally against the newly-enacted Omnibus Law on Job Creation in 24 provinces today, November 2, 2020.

The president of the Confederation of Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPI), Said Iqbal, said that the protest in Jakarta Greater Area or Jabodetabek will center at the State Palace and the Constitutional Court in Central Jakarta. Protesters will first gather at the Horse Statue area, Jalan Merdeka Barat.

“We will demand the revocation of Job Creation omnibus law and urge the increase in the 2021 minimum wage,” said Iqbal in a written statement on Sunday, November 1.

Iqbal added that both KSPI led by him and Andi Gani Nena will submit a judicial review of the new law to the Constitutional Court. If the law has not been registered, they planned to consult the issue with the Court.

Other than Jakarta, the street rally will be staged in several cities, including Depok, Bogor, Tangerang Raya, Serang, Cilegon, Karawang, Bekasi, Purwakarta, Subang, Indramayu, Cirebon, Bandung Raya, Cimahi, Cianjur, Sukabumi, Semarang, Kendal, Jepara, Surabaya, Mojokerto, Pasuruan, Sidoarjo, and Gresik.

Workers in Yogyakarta, Banda Aceh, Medan, Deli Serdang, Batam, Bintan, Pekanbaru, Jambi, Bengkulu, Lampung, Makassar, Gorontalo, Bitung, Kendari, Morowali, Banjarmasin, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, Lombok, Ambon, Papua, and other cities were also set to take part in the protest.

“This rally by KSPI and 32 other federations is anti-violence and will be held in a measurable, directed, and constitutional way. This act will be carried out peacefully and orderly without anarchism,” said Iqbal.
