TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - The Karo Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) announced on Thursday afternoon that the 1,500-meter eruption from Mount Sinabung had spewed volcanic ash, affecting three sub-districts two kilometers to the mountain’s east-southeast direction.
“Mount Sinabung’s eruption launched volcanic ash up to 1,500-meters and spread to the east-southeast areas of up to 2-kilometers,” said BPBD Karo acting-head Natanail Perangin-angin on October 29.
The three districts affected by the ash clouds in the Karo Regency in North Sumatra include Berastagi, Merdeka, and Dolat Rakyat. Fortunately, no damages were reported from the affected areas from the eruption .
One day prior on Wednesday, Mount Sinabung spouted hot ash clouds to areas within one-kilometer of the east-southeast area and is currently at Alert Level III where human activities are barred within a 3-kilometer radius.
