TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The volume of vehicles during the long holiday of Prophet Muhammad Birthday’s commemoration today has moved from toll roads to the roads leading to tourist destinations.

Director-general of Land Transportation at the Transportation Ministry Budi Setiyadi said the areas that are under anticipation include road accesses to Puncak - Bogor, and Lembang - Bandung.

“We observe that today, the traffic density moves to travel destinations. We’ve prepared scenarios as usual,” Budi Setiyadi told Tempo, Thursday, October 29.

One of the scenarios is the one-way traffic system. Traffic engineering will be applied if a huge number of vehicles start to pack the road.

In order to avoid Covid-19 transmission, Budi said the transportation department in each province implements random checking, which include body temperature check, until the requirement to provide non-reactive or negative for coronavirus document for bus passengers.

The transportation ministry also limits visitors’ capacity in rest areas to only 50 percent at a maximum. “Officers will guard the rest areas,” Budi said.

The peak of people transporting for a long holiday occurred on October 28. The government and toll road operators have yet to recap the number of vehicles leaving the capital city as vehicles’ movement leaving Jakarta will still occur today even though won't as many as it was yesterday.
