TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan shares tips on how to spend time during the long weekend holiday without having to leave the town or go mudik in the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19. This month’s holiday begins from Wednesday, October 28 until November 1, 2020.
“We should not have to go on vacation to spend the holiday. Here are alternative fun activities you can do with your family at home,” Anies reposted a photo published by Jakarta's Instagram to his account @aniesbaswedan on Wednesday, October 28.
First, use video call apps to connect with families and relatives. Face-to-face meetings are better replaced by this technology temporarily.
Second, make a list of activities to do at home together, such as cooking, playing games, watching movies, gardening, and doing sports.
Third, go for virtual tourism. Jakartans do not need to leave homes, spend money on transportation, and worry about contracting the coronavirus for being in a crowd on a tourism site.
“Jakarta has virtual tours services. You can explore the city of Jakarta, starting from Monas (National Monument), Dufan amusement park, up to museums,” the photo said.
Fourth, join webinars to develop personal skills. Anies suggested people divert holiday budget to buy unlimited internet quota and register in a web seminar.
Fifth, take a staycation. Convince your family that not having a homecoming trip or going on vacation amid the Covid-19 pandemic is a wide, safe, and healthy decision for everyone.
“Covid-19 still exists around us. Anticipate a spike in positive cases during the long weekend holiday by having quality time with families and friends without going on a vacation. Do not forget to be disciplined in applying the health protocol: wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining distance, and the clean and healthy lifestyle,” as quoted from the photo reposted by Anies Baswedan.
