Jokowi's Spokesperson Says Job Creation Law Is in Process of Signing

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A spokesperson of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo for legal affairs, Dini Purnomo, said the draft of the Job Creation Law had been at the President’s desk and ready to be signed.
“The draft of the law is in the process of the president's signing,” Dini told reporters on Friday, October 23, 2020.
According to her, based on the final checking by the State Secretariat, only Article 46 of the 2001 Law No. 22 regarding oil and natural gas that was removed from the draft before it was delivered to President Jokowi.
Article 46 of the Oil and Gas Law was initially noted in the 812-page version of the Omnibus Law submitted by the House of Representatives (DPR) to the President. However, it was then scrapped in the 1,187-page-long draft version sent by the State Secretariat to several Islamic organizations.
“The State Secretariat saw what should not be included in the Job Creation Law and communicated it with the DPR,” Dini explained.
The Head of the DPR Legislation Body, Supratman Andi Atgas, also admitted his side had deliberated the removal of the article with the State Secretariat. “It happened to be the State Secretariat that found what should have been deleted in the first place,” said Supratman to Tempo on Thursday, October 22.
