TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, highlighted the increasing rate of Covid-19 infections in four provinces. The four provinces are West Sumatra, Riau, East Kalimantan and Papua.

"In these four provinces, the [transmission rate] increased by 7 percent; from 13.4 percent during 9-15 September, to 20.5 percent during 14-20 October," Luhut said during a virtual meeting on Covid-19 control efforts, Wednesday, October 21.

Luhut, who is also the Deputy Chair of the Covid-19 Control Policy and National Economic Recovery Committee, asked related officials to pay special attention to the four provinces.

He said that the involvement of the TNI and Polri was quite effective in suppressing the spread of Covid-19, such as what happened in East Java, as their involvement resulted in changes in people's behavior.

"We hope that provinces with high cases can implement the same [policies] as East Java. Cooperation between governors, police chiefs, regional military commanders and local health departments is very important," said Luhut.
