TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan expressed his dissatisfaction over the program of Bangga Buatan Indonesia or Proud of Indonesia-made Product thus far.
“The program has been running but we are not satisfied yet or highly dissatisfied because many ministries and institutions have not made use of this program yet,” said Luhut in an online event on Wednesday, October 21. Thus, he was determined to push ministries and institutions to purchase local products.
Luhut has many times touched on the issue. In a video conference last August, he asked officials to buy domestic goods, which was in line with the government’s efforts to keep up the pride in using Indonesian-made products.
“That is the spirit to love and purchase Indonesian products. We must not just talk about it. All of us as state officials must show that we buy local products,” said Luhut in a video conference on Sunday, August 30, 2020.
Luhut said the government also reflected the support by buying products with high local content. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo even demanded ministries and institutions to do the same so as to support micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Since the program was launched on May 14, 2020, by President Jokowi, Luhut Pandjaitan claimed it had succeeded to increase the number of MSMEs players on digital platforms.
