TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The national COVID-19 mitigation task force spokesperson, Wiku Adisasmito, said 35 regencies or cities are stuck inside their comfort zone or still classified as orange zones with a medium risk of coronavirus transmission.

“In the last five weeks, most of the country's regencies or cities remain in the medium-risk zones and orange zones,” said Wiku in a press conference on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

According to him, the condition was also attributable to the lower number of yellow or green zones because their risk of virus transmission increased, and so they were categorized as the orange zones.

Wiku hoped the local governments could break out of their comfort zones by working hard to get out of the orange zones and move to the safer zones, yellow or green zones.

He argued that the shifting of the category from a low to a higher-risk zone was a sign that the regional governments and the people felt at ease and were starting to undermine the importance of efforts to prevent COVID-19.

“We ask for the seriousness of local governments and the community to implement strict health protocol so that their areas can be back as a low-risk zone in the weeks ahead,” Wiku underlined.
