TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Tuesday held a limited meeting on the anticipation of the possible impending hydrometeorology disaster caused by the La Nina tropical storm and warned every government element to anticipate this situation.

“The reports I received from the BMKG states that La Nina is predicted to cause an increase in Indonesia’s rain intensity monthly accumulation from 20 to 40 percent above normal,” said the presiden in opening the virtual meeting.

He called for the country’s agriculture production to be focused on and to be calculated for its economic effects. Other sectors that were also called for more attention are the fisheries sector and the aviation sector.

Jokowi added that the predicted 20 - 40 percent is not a small number and that members of the public must understand this situation. Which is why he ordered state ministers to thoroughly disseminate the information regarding the weather broadly.
