TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto has been given the authority to set the price for the Covid-19 vaccine, as set out in Presidential Regulation No. 99/2020. President Joko Widodo or Jokowi signed the regulation on October 5, 2020.

"The purchase price of the Covid-19 vaccine for the same type may differ based on the source of the provider and the contract period," reads Article 10 of the Regulation.

Terawan is also authorized to determine the type and quantity of vaccines, taking into account considerations from the Covid-19 Mitigation and National Economic Recovery Committee, with approval from the Head of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

In addition, Minister Terawan is tasked to appoint BUMN, business entities; and/or cooperate with international agencies in the vaccine procurement. In the event of a force majeure, the implementation of contracts or cooperation for the supply of the Covid-19 vaccine can be stopped.

The Health Ministry is also tasked with implementing vaccinations by determining the vaccine recipient criteria and priorities; priority areas; schedules and stages of vaccine administration; and vaccination services standards.
