TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir’s special staff, Arya Sinulangga, on Tuesday said the ministry plans to liquidate 14 state companies in a movement meant to transform and downsize SOEs.
This was revealed in a virtual discussion held by the Matangasa Institute where Arya explains the transformation includes development, consolidation, transfer management, up to disbandment and liquidations of SOEs.
“There are 41 SOEs that will be maintained and developed, while another 34 will be consolidated or merged, 19 will be included in the PPA, and 14 will be liquidized,” said Arya Sinulangga in the Youtube video on September 29.
The PPA refers to the asset management company. He noted that “deadweight” companies such as air carrier Merpati will be subjected to merge plans.
Earlier in February, Erick Thohir announced the liquidation plans after the ministry’s mapping towards 142 state-owned enterprises was established, which listed companies that were no longer deemed viable to be preserved.
