TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s COVID-19 tally continues to rise. Based on the government’s data on Monday, September 28, at 12 p.m., there were 3,509 new cases in the last 24 hours.

The new confirmed cases pushed the country's total tally to 278,722 cases, which havecollected since the first infections were announced on March 2, 2020.

Meanwhile, on the same day, 3,856 more patients made full recovery, bringing the total to 206,870. The number of virus fatalities also increased by 87. Thus, 10,473 patients succumbed to the coronavirus disease to date.

The national COVID-19 mitigation task force reported the data, which could also be accessed by the public on Covid19.go.id.

Previously reported, the government was planning to standardize face masks in red zones or areas with high-risk coronavirus transmission in an effort to curb virus spread.

“Regions categorized as red zones are at a high risk of virus transmission, so it is necessary to set a standard,” said the task force head, Doni Monardo, on a virtual press conference broadcasted via Presidential Secretariat’s Youtube account on Monday, September 28, 2020.
