Lion Air Group: Pandemic Affects 1,900 Pilots, 3,000 Cabin Crew

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lion Air Group said that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected 1,900 pilots and 3,000 company cabin crew. Additionally, 25,000 support employees have also been affected by the pandemic.
"There are numerous problems; from general health, reduced financial capacity," the group's airport service operations director Wisnu Wijayanto said in a web seminar, September 23.
He added that if the situation does not change, there will be additional problems of reduced crew's professional ability.
"The effect is not good, because the airline will have to remap the flight crew. In the end, there will be involuntary unpaid leave for cabin crew," he said.
Wisnu hopes the aviation sector will recover soon with increased passengers' interest to fly again. Without passenger movements, other businesses such as logistics would be difficult to grow, especially since air logistics performances still depended on passengers' transportation.
