TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - As many as 369 employees of the Epson factory in the Ejib industrial area, South Cikarang, Bekasi Regency were confirmed positive for the coronavirus disease or COVID-19. The factory was then shut down by the COVID-19 mitigation task force for two weeks.

“The operation of the company will be closed from September 19 to October 2,” said the Bekasi COVID-19 mitigation task force spokesman, Alamsyah, on Monday, September 21, 2020.

Alamsyah recalled that the first positive case in the factory that produced electronic goods was discovered on September 6, 2020. The task force then conducted mass tracking, testing, and tracing of more than 4000 workers in the building.

The test results, he added, was that 369 workers contracted the virus. As many as 238 of the number are Bekasi residents, while the rest live outside the regency. The government's personnel are still tracking their contacts in the family.

“Some of the positive cases have recovered,” Alamsyah said, but stopped short of detailing the number of patients who had been declared healthy.

As reported on the regency’s official website pikokabsi.bekasikab.go.id site, Bekasi has 1,914 COVID-19 cases as of September 19, 2020, with 48 fatalities and 215 active cases.
