TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police planned to deploy some 192,000 personnel to secure the 2020 Regional Head Election or Pilkada. The police spokesman Brig. Gen. Awi Setiyono said each regional unit head would decide the number in their respective areas.

“Regarding the involvement of security forces in 2020 Pilkada, the police will mobilize 192,168 personnel. The number involved in each region will be adjusted to each region’s risk potential,” said Awi at his office, South Jakarta, Tuesday, September 8.

Additionally, 137,729 personnel are set to be deployed to secure polling stations (TPS). On December 9, 2020, they will be posted in over 300,000 TPS.

Awi outlined that 266,220 polling stations are categorized as safe, and every ten of them will be guarded by two personnel. 34,863 polling stations in the conflict-prone category will be guarded by two personnel in every two TPS.

“The rest 5,113 polling stations that are very vulnerable [to conflict] will be each guarded by two police personnel. Meanwhile, 732 special TPS will also be secured by two personnel each,” Awi concluded.
