TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Governor’s Team for Accelerated Development (TGUPP) member, Dedi Kusuma Wijaya, said the procedure for the reopening of movie theaters was not the same as that of shopping malls or other recreation areas.
According to Dedi, cinema reopening would be carried out based on the proposals of each entrepreneur.
“The method is not the same as that of malls that can be just opened,” he said in a virtual discussion on Tuesday night, September 8, 2020.
Dedi explained that cinema operators were required to submit a request to resume their operation to the Jakarta provincial government.
The proposal must be accompanied by a plan of the implementation of health protocols. The government would later form a joint team from the health and tourism agency to review the proposal.
“Then the team will visit, review, and later will provide recommendations,” Dedi added.
Previously, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said movie theaters would be opened soon during the transitional large-scale social restriction or PSBB. The reopening of cinemas would be under experts' studies on the management of cinemas.
