TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron, on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, said that the anti-graft agency will focus on prevention measures to battle against corruption.
However, Nurul maintains that this strategy will not reduce law enforcement efforts against graft activities.
"[We] the KPK weep every time we arrest state-officials [involved in graft], regardless, they are part of Indonesia's leaders, a part of Indonesia's face," said Nurul in the Stranas KPK event on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. "The more that gets arrested the more it crumbles the face and reputation of the country."
Apart from focusing on prevention, Ghufron maintains that KPK will increase its efforts in areas that are considered grey areas that are related to regulations that creates strenuous bureaucracy.
"The ANPK [the national action to prevent corruption] enables to review of regulations, official structures, and budget estimates," said Nurul Ghufron.
