TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the relaxed social restrictions imposed by the government, people are adapting their daily routines to the COVID-19 new normal guidance. Those who do not own personal vehicles would go back to using public transportation, including taxi rides.

On Thursday’s press conference, in partnership with GoPay, Blue Bird director Adrianto Djokosoetono said taxi services have seen changes in demand compared to the situation prior to the pandemic.

“At the early stage of PSBB (large-scale social restriction), we were severely affected. But now, it’s progressing to a normal recovery,” said Adrianto to Antara on Thursday, August 13.

In regards to taxi services, he asserted that both the passenger and the driver share important roles in preventing the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, he said face masks are required when riding a cab and the passengers can also use hand sanitizers prepared by Blue Bird inside its fleets.

As for payments, Adrianto encouraged passengers to pay their taxi ride using non-cash transactions, such as QRIS and GoPay. Each vehicle is also sterilized thoroughly every time a driver comes back to the headquarters.
