Dozens in East Jakarta Penalized for Not Wearing Face Masks

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sixty-two people were fined and sanctioned for not wearing face masks in East Jakarta. They were caught not wearing masks in four areas in Ciracas Sub-district on Wednesday, August 12.

The Pamong Praja Police Unit chief of Ciracas, Endarwanto, said that 49 Satpol PP officers were dispatched to run the Mask Operation.

Not all of the 62 offenders had to pay a fine of Rp250,000.

"59 orang were given community sentences to clean up their neighborhoods, while three chose to pay the administrative fine," Endarwanto said in a written statement as published in timur.jakarta.go.id, Wednesday.

In another sub-district of East Jakarta, Kalisari, the police also caught 17 other people not wearing face masks outside.

"Six people were not wearing masks, while ten more did not wear masks and failed to show their KTP," Kalisari Satpol PP chief Karwadi said.
