TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Member of the Indonesian COVID-19 vaccine trial team announced the clinical trial on the vaccine is set to commence on August 11, 2020, at the Padjadjaran University hospital before it is continued in five other designated locations across Bandung.

However, due to the many requirements that are needed to qualify as a clinical trial volunteer, the Head of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine trial team, Prof. Kusnandi Rusmil, said there are chances that not everyone who registered might be accepted.

“There will be many requirements for those who register. Not everyone may be able to take part,” said Kusnandi at the Biofarma headquarters in Bandung on Tuesday, August 4.

He recalls that each and every vaccine clinical trial volunteer must undergo Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) swab tests to confirm their health conditions before progressing further into the clinical trial.

The vaccine clinical trial, according to him, will involve at least 30 general practitioners and 20 medical specialists to handle 20 - 25 volunteers in each location. So far, Prof. Kusnandi Rusmil assures that the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial is ready to take place.
