TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) speaker Prasetio Edi Marsudi planned to hold mass COVID-19 swab tests for all people working at the council building when the office reopened.

“After we reopen the office on August 9, we will conduct swab tests for each party faction, PDIP, PKS, Gerindra, PAN, and others. Everyone [must undergo the test],” said Prasetio while inspecting the council building after being sterilized on Monday, August 3, 2020.

However, he stopped short of detailing the exact date of the mass tests, underlining that he wanted the testing on 105 legislators to take place as soon as possible.

“As soon as possible. We are considering the case development because positive cases in Jakarta also increase,” he said.

As of Monday, August 3, 2020, Prasetio said there was only one remaining member from the National Mandate Party (PAN) who was confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus disease. At present, the PAN politician has reportedly recuperated.

“As from our representative, the condition of a member who tested positive has improved. Hopefully, he will recover soon,” said the PDIP politician.

Earlier, Prasetio confirmed that a member from the PKS faction, Dany Anwar, died of COVID-19 today, August 3.

Thus, the DPRD building was shut down again for six days until August 9 for sterilization. Previously, the building had been closed since July 29 following the discovery of a confirmed COVID-19 case.
