Bed Occupancy Rate for COVID-19 in Jakarta Hospitals Rises: Anies

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan revealed that the bed occupancy rate in COVID-19 referral hospitals in Jakarta increased by 11 percent during the last week of the transitional PSBB or large-scale social restriction.
“In the past week, there has been a hike in the bed occupancy rate in isolation rooms of referral hospitals from 34 percent to 45 percent,” said Anies in an online conference on Thursday, July 17.
Jakarta has 67 COVID-19 referral hospitals, that are considered as the last defense to combat virus infection. There are in total 4,556 beds in isolation wards and 659 beds in ICU.
Meanwhile, Anies added that the bed occupancy rate in ICU throughout the last week decreased to 25 percent from initially 31 percent.
“This means the number of patients developing severe symptoms is decreasing as they are usually treated in ICU, but the number of patients with light and moderate symptoms rises.”
The surge in the number of patients with light and moderate COVID-19 symptoms is discovered from the results of tracking carried out by the health community centers or Puskesmas.
“We conduct testing, tracing so that those who are asymptomatic or not aware of contracting the virus are now detectable,” Anies Baswedan said.
