TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives Legislation Body (Baleg DPR) planned to drop the bill on the elimination of sexual violence or RUU PKS from the 2020 national legislation program. The DPR Baleg Head Supratman Andi Agtas said he had received a letter from the leaders of the DPR Commission VIII related to bill revocation.

“We’d be thankful if it can be removed [from the Prolegnas], so it can reduce the burden of our Prolegnas,” said Supratman in a meeting on the evaluation of the 2020 Prolegnas today, June 30.

Supratman explained that all bills listed in this year’s Prolegnas were targeted to complete in October. If it was estimated to be incomplete by the deadline, he suggested the bill be excluded from the priority list.

However, the bill could be proposed for the 2021 Prolegnas in October, he added. The Gerindra politician said the drafting of next year’s Prolegnas would be discussed in October before the 2021 State Budget is set.

The RUU PKS was one of 50 bills listed in the 2020 Prolegnas set in the DPR plenary meeting last January. A number of civil society groups urged the bill to be passed immediately in a bid to provide protection and justice for victims.
