TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government's spokesman for the national COVID-19 mitigation, Achmad Yurianto, has reported a number of potential areas of COVID-19 transmission during the new normal era.

“Experts have begun to conduct research that in the era of new normal, there are several potential areas that could potentially become new virus transmission hotspots,” said Yurianto in a press conference broadcasted via BNPB’s YouTube channel on Friday, June 26.

The first areas are office spaces. Yurianto said people in workplaces must maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 meters in a bid to prevent the COVID-19 spread. “Keep a distance and wear face masks while being in the room become absolute things to do,” he asserted.

Ventilation and air circulation in office rooms must also be maintained. He warned of the use of air conditioners that should be turned on for a certain hour, and that the air should be freshened.

The second areas are restaurants. Many people have the same interests at a relatively same time, such as during lunchtime, he added. Thus, the eatery management must limit the number of visitors.

The third areas prone to be a new point of COVID-19 transmission are mass transport. The government, Yurianto added, had anticipated the number of transportation users by dividing office hours into two slots: at 7:00-7:30 a.m. and 10:00-10:30 a.m.
