Divers Rejoice; Kepulauan Seribu Reopens its Tourism

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Capital City’s Kepulauan Seribu or the Thousand Islands local administration announced that it will start to accept tourists to dive in the plethora of islands within the area. Its deputy regent, Junaedi, asserts that divers that intend to visit must bring their own personal diving kit.
“Tourists, and people, in general, wanting to be diving or snorkeling the ocean can do it now. But we highly suggest bringing your own personal equipment instead of renting,” said Junaedi. Visitors are also limited to 50 percent capacity.
This COVID-19 prevention health protocol is mentioned in Jakarta’s tourism and creative economy decree that intends to help the local tourism sector dive into the transitional period and help kickstart the local tourism industry.
As usual, Junaedi said local professional diving communities will be on standby anytime a diving instructor is needed. Apart from bringing their own diving equipment, the Kepulauan Seribu (Thousands Island) administration also requires visitors to bring their own health check letter or notice as they enter the island’s port.
