TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura I (AP I) announced on Friday that the passenger traffic in its airports has increased, including at the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali.

Based on the company’s data on June 1 - June 15, 2020, the total number of passengers departing and arriving at Ngurah Rai Airport reached 8,116 people at 260 flight schedules.

AP I president director Faik Fahmi said that Bali airport along with 14 other airports managed under AP I have implemented a ‘new normal’ service procedure. "It is our commitment to support the government in breaking the chain of COVID-19 but also provide a sense of security and pleasance for air transport passengers," he said.

The new normal measures include the use of face masks, physical distancing, and the availability of handwashing stations in strategic areas. Operations personnel in the field are also required to wear personal protective equipment at all times such as goggles, face shields, face masks, and gloves.

Other airports managed by Angkasa Pura I such as Sultan Hasanuddin Airport recorded the highest passenger traffic with 53,940 people at 996 flights; Juanda Airport Surabaya saw 50,261 passengers at 886 flights; SAMS Sepinggan Balikpapan airport saw 34,345 people fly on 659 flights.
