TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The youngest daughter of Indonesia’s late president Abdurrahman “Gus Dur” Wahid, Inayah Wahid, voiced up against the police summoning of North Maluku resident, Ismail Ahmad, over a Facebook post that quipped the police institution which read: “There are only three honest police personnel: a police statue, a speed bump (which is called polisi tidur or sleeping police in native Indonesian), and general Hoegeng.”

Ismail Ahmad cited the popular quote that was originally said by Gus Dur during his lifetime:

“Why was the person quoting the statement that was summoned. Summon the person who made the joke too,” said Inayah Wahid in her Twitter account on Wednesday, June 17.

Moreover, Gus Dur’s eldest daughter, Alissa Qotrunnada Munawaroh Wahida, encouraged the police to learn from the former Indonesian National Police Chief Tito Karnavian who last year also quoted the same statement during his visit to Ciganjur in 2019.

Alissa Wahid also used Twitter to voice her opinion on the matter. “Pak police, there is an example available from your leader, the former police chief General Tito Karnavian who is now the Home Affairs Minister.”

Not only did she expose the fact that one of the police institution’s leaders had quoted Gus Dur’s statement, but Alissa Wahid also quipped that Indonesia is experiencing a “humor crisis.”

Late Gus Dur’s other daughter Anita Hayatun Nufus, or Anita Wahid, echoed her siblings by uploading a content containing her late father’s image along with the quote that had Ismail Ahmad be summoned by the police.
