TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan clarified that the evaluation of the enforcement of the transitional large-scale social restriction or PSBB will be held at the end of June 2020.

“We will review all of these (transitional PSBB) at the end of June. Thus, we can have enough data. [This is] not a one-day event,” said Anies when met in Dukuh Atas, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, June 17.

He elaborated that the evaluation of the transition period to a new normal era in the capital must be based on the monitoring of the 10 to 14 days after the policy is enacted. Because, he added, today’s condition reflects events of the past two weeks so that the current situation can be observed in the next two weeks.

The former education and culture minister stated that he had monitored the first week of the transitional PSBB, which began on June 5, 2020. However, he asserted that the evaluation result will be revealed by this month’s end, pending on the complete data and monitoring process.

During the transition period to a new normal era, Anies Baswedan relaxed several restrictions, such as allowing houses of prayers and even shopping malls to reopen this week. In the third week, the governor will permit tourist and entertainment areas to reoperate.

The number of Covid-19 confirmed cases in Jakarta keeps rising. As of today, June 17, the capital city has 9,209 positive cases, with 4,444 recoveries and 588 death tolls.
