TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry is starting to gradually recover the public transportation passenger up to 70 percent capacity as the central government prepares to take the nation into the ‘new normal’ phase.
Transportation Ministry’s director-general of air transport Novie Riyanto said that air carriers will need to prepare an interaction procedure between passengers and its cabin crews.
“There will need to be additional crew members in each flight to anticipate certain cases related to COVID-19, maybe for a scenario where isolation is needed,” said Riyanto on Tuesday.
Airport and navigation management are also asked to adjust the operational activities of shopping and F&B outlets, and the departure slots to prevent creating long queues as the terminal’s capacity is set at 50 percent and will gradually be increased to 70 percent and 100 percent if the situation eventually improves.
Back on land, regulators have permitted personal vehicles to be filled to its full capacity as long as the passengers have the same address written on their ID cards. Meanwhile, the load factor of inter-provincial buses is going to be managed gradually in three phases on June 8, June 9, and June 30.
In a separate occasion, Corporate Communications Strategic Lion Air Group, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, said the air carrier has reopened the services as of today since the introduction of a simpler passenger requirement.
Three air carriers under the Lion Air Group had temporarily shut its operations on May 27 - May 31, 2020.
